Welcome Letter for Parents

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year at the Linscott-Rumford Elementary School. For those of you who are unfamiliar with us, we are a volunteer organization made up of parents, teachers, administrators, and support staff who are all dedicated to the successful education of our children.  The PTO works hard to help make the school year both enjoyable and exciting for students, teachers, and parents.

The Linscott-Rumford PTO would like to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning families. Working together we can truly make a difference at the Linscott-Rumford. Every positive imprint we make on our children can go a long, long way. It you are able to give some time, day or evenings, please join us! Many hands make the job easier!

What does the PTO do?

We plan and organize events such as “Fun”-draisers, Halloween Float, Book Fair and Healthy Snack Sales (formerly Bake Sales), Holiday Shoppe, Spelling Bee and Pizza Bingo Night just to name a few. Some of these events help raise funds to support our school. We provide classroom supplies and teaching aids to staff and students. Last year our Book Fair raised funds to purchase many more books for our school Library. We 100% fund all in-house enrichment programs, all class field-trips and buses for every student. Last year alone, we provided over 18 in-house enrichment programs for the students to enhance their learning curriculum.

What ways can a Parent volunteer?

Anyone with a child at the Linscott-Rumford Elementary is invited to be part of all the volunteer opportunities. Here are some ways to get involved:

·         Participate with your family in our Family Fun events and enjoy our school community.

·         Volunteer with our PALS program. Parents Assisting Linscott Staff is a group of parent volunteers that help teachers with cutting, pasting, lamination, sorting/removing worksheets from work books etc. A monthly calendar is developed so that the parent volunteers know what day they will be asked to assist with the essential program.

·         Our group meets once a month to discuss school programs, plan fundraisers and events, and share ideas. This is a great way to find out what is happening at our school. Meeting dates for the 2013-2014 are already posted on the PTO website!

·         Donate items for local food pantries, $ for charity Hat Days, items for the Healthy Snack and Raffle Sales, items for our Teacher Appreciation week, etc.

·         Donate "Cash for Education" items like: Box Tops, A+ Bonus at Stop and Shop, Target Take Charge Credit Card and purchase gift cards through our SCRIPS program.

We in the PTO believe that it is the ultimate importance that parents do everything we can to enhance the learning environment of our children as they truly are our future. It will take all of us working together to ensure that this happens. We look forward to getting to know you and hope we do all we can to make you feel welcome!

With Best Regards,
The Linscott-Rumford PTO
